About this course

Most organisations have more data than they use well. Data analysts close that gap: they find the right data, clean it, answer real questions with it and explain the answers so that people can act on them. This course teaches that whole workflow with the tools analysts use every day — spreadsheets, SQL, Python and Power BI.

Classes are live and hands-on. Instead of disconnected exercises, you work on one running case: a synthetic sales, customer and inventory dataset for a fictional chain of stationery shops, generated for the course so that no real person’s data is used. Alongside it you practise on public open datasets, learning to check each one’s licence and terms of use before you rely on it. Every week includes doubt-clearing time, and each module ends with a reviewed assignment or quiz.

Why four tools? Each one is the best fit for a different part of the job. Spreadsheets are where most business data starts and where quick analysis happens; SQL is how you pull and combine data from databases; Python with pandas makes cleaning and analysis repeatable when spreadsheets stop scaling; and Power BI turns the results into dashboards that others can explore. You learn when to reach for each and how they hand work to one another.

Using data responsibly runs through the course: collecting only what you need, handling personal data under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, anonymising before sharing, and presenting findings honestly — including what the data cannot tell you.

What this course is not: it is not a machine-learning course. It builds the foundation that data science work depends on; predictive modelling is covered in the Data Science & Machine Learning course.

Schedules and batches

Choose the schedule that fits your week. Both teach the same syllabus and the same 48 live hours; only the number of weeks differs.

ScheduleDaysLive hours a weekClassesLength before holidays
Weekday IntensiveMon–Fri, 1 h each548about 10 weeks
Weekend EveningSat & Sun evenings, 2 h each424about 12 weeks
  • Weekday Intensive classes are one hour, so each 2 h syllabus session is taught across consecutive weekday classes.
  • Weekend Evening classes run on Saturday and Sunday evenings; the exact time and time zone are set before a batch is confirmed.
  • Public holidays are not class days unless the instructor confirms a class. Holidays, instructor leave and cancelled classes move the end date later so no live hours are lost.
  • Plan about 5 hours a week of exercises, assignments and project work outside class.
  • Group, Duo and One-to-One courses all follow one of these two schedules.

Final project

Portfolio case study: where is the business growing, and where is it leaking? You receive a written brief from the fictional stationery chain’s management team, a synthetic multi-year dataset (sales transactions, products, stores, customers and returns) with realistic data-quality problems deliberately included, and three business questions to answer. You may instead propose a public open dataset with a clear licence, agreed with the instructor in advance.

Deliverables

  • A cleaning log: every problem found (duplicates, inconsistent categories, missing values, invalid dates), how it was fixed and how many rows each step affected.
  • SQL queries that answer the business questions, with comments explaining each step.
  • A Jupyter notebook using pandas for at least one analysis that would be awkward in a spreadsheet, with charts.
  • A Power BI dashboard with a documented star-schema model, a written definition for every KPI, filters that make sense for the audience and accessible colours and labels.
  • A five-minute data story presented live: the question, what the data shows, the recommendation and the limitations of the analysis.
  • A GitHub repository with a README covering the data source and licence, the tools used, how to reproduce the work and a note confirming that no real personal data is included.

The case study is presented and reviewed live in the final week, with feedback on accuracy, clarity and honesty of presentation.

Questions about Data Analytics: Excel, SQL, Power BI & Python

How long is Data Analytics: Excel, SQL, Power BI & Python?

48 hours of live online teaching: about 10 weeks on the Weekday Intensive schedule (Mon–Fri, 1 h a class), or about 12 weeks on the Weekend Evening schedule (Sat & Sun evenings, 2 h a class), before holidays. Plan about 5 hours a week of exercises and project work as well.

When are the classes?

No batch dates have been announced yet. The proposed pattern is Sat and Sun evenings, 2 hours each (time to be confirmed); it is confirmed when a batch is scheduled. Book a free consultation to hear about the next batch.

What do I need before I start?
  • Comfortable using a computer, installing software and working with files and folders
  • Everyday arithmetic and percentages; no programming or statistics background required
  • A laptop with at least 8 GB RAM; Power BI Desktop runs only on Windows, so macOS and Linux users need access to a Windows machine or virtual machine for that module
Will I get a certificate?

Yes — a ZORK Academy course completion certificate when you meet this course’s requirements, listed under Certificate. Paying for the course does not by itself earn the certificate, and it is not a university or government-recognised qualification.

Are classes recorded?

Where the academy has permission to record a class, the recording may be shared with your batch for revision. Recordings do not replace live classes, and attendance counts towards the certificate.

How do I pay?

The fee is a one-time payment in Indian rupees through Razorpay once online enrolment opens; ZORK Academy never sees your card or UPI details. The fee shown is proposed and may change before enrolment opens. Refunds follow the refund and cancellation policy in force when you pay.
