About this course

DevOps is the set of practices that lets a team change software often without breaking it: every change is versioned, built and tested automatically, packaged the same way everywhere, deployed repeatably and watched once it is running. This course teaches those practices with the tools teams commonly use for them — Linux and Bash, Git, Docker, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Terraform, Prometheus and Grafana — and connects them into one working delivery pipeline.

Classes are live and hands-on. Across the course you take one small web application with an API and a database and carry it the whole way: run it on Linux, containerise it, build and test it in CI, deploy it to a Kubernetes cluster, describe its infrastructure as code and add monitoring and alerts. Each module closes with an assignment, quiz or project milestone that is reviewed with feedback, and every module includes doubt-clearing time.

Runs on your own laptop. The Kubernetes work uses a local cluster (kind), and the infrastructure-as-code work uses Terraform against local Docker resources, so you do not need a paid cloud account to complete the course. Managed cloud services such as Amazon EKS are explained and compared; trying them is optional and may incur charges from the provider.

What this course is not: it does not teach programming or the command line from zero, and it is not preparation for a vendor certification. It covers Kubernetes fundamentals in depth enough to deploy and operate an application, not cluster administration.

Schedules and batches

Choose the schedule that fits your week. Both teach the same syllabus and the same 56 live hours; only the number of weeks differs.

Schedule comparison for DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes & CI/CD
ScheduleDaysLive hours a weekClassesLength before holidays
Weekday IntensiveMon–Fri, 1 h each556about 12 weeks
Weekend EveningSat & Sun evenings, 2 h each428about 14 weeks
  • Weekday Intensive classes are one hour, so each 2 h syllabus session is taught across consecutive weekday classes.
  • Weekend Evening classes run on Saturday and Sunday evenings; the exact time and time zone are set before a batch is confirmed.
  • Public holidays are not class days unless the instructor confirms a class. Holidays, instructor leave and cancelled classes move the end date later so no live hours are lost.
  • Plan about 5 hours a week of exercises, assignments and project work outside class.
  • Group, Duo and One-to-One courses all follow one of these two schedules.

Final project

Build a complete delivery pipeline for a small web application. You receive an application with an API, a web front end and a PostgreSQL database, plus its source code in a Git repository. You deliver:

  • A short delivery plan: how changes move from a branch to production, what each pipeline stage checks, and how you would roll back.
  • Production-quality Dockerfiles (multi-stage, non-root, small images) and a Docker Compose file for local development.
  • A GitHub Actions workflow that lints and tests on every pull request, scans the images with Trivy, and builds, tags and publishes them to GitHub Container Registry on merge.
  • A Helm chart that deploys the application to Kubernetes with Deployments, Services, an Ingress, ConfigMaps, Secrets, resource limits and readiness and liveness probes; the pipeline deploys it to a kind cluster and runs a smoke test.
  • Terraform code that creates part of the supporting infrastructure, with a plan reviewed in the pull request.
  • Prometheus metrics and a Grafana dashboard for the application, with at least one alert rule, plus a short runbook for that alert.
  • A Bash script that automates one operational task, such as a database backup or an environment check.

Reviewed live in the final week: you demonstrate a change flowing through the pipeline to the cluster, trigger and explain your alert, show a rollback, and answer questions about your design choices.

Questions about DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes & CI/CD

How long is DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes & CI/CD?

56 hours of live online teaching: about 12 weeks on the Weekday Intensive schedule (Mon–Fri, 1 h a class), or about 14 weeks on the Weekend Evening schedule (Sat & Sun evenings, 2 h a class), before holidays. Plan about 5 hours a week of exercises and project work as well.

When are the classes?

No batch dates have been announced yet. The proposed pattern is Sat and Sun evenings, 2 hours each (time to be confirmed); it is confirmed when a batch is scheduled. Book a free consultation to hear about the next batch.

What do I need before I start?
  • Comfortable with basic terminal commands: navigating folders, running programs and editing files
  • Basic programming in any language: you can read a short script or small application
  • A general idea of how a web application talks to an API and a database
  • A laptop with at least 8 GB RAM (16 GB recommended for Docker and a local Kubernetes cluster) running Linux, macOS, or Windows with WSL 2
  • A free GitHub account for the Git and CI/CD modules
Will I get a certificate?

Yes — a ZORK Academy course completion certificate when you meet this course’s requirements, listed under Certificate. Paying for the course does not by itself earn the certificate, and it is not a university or government-recognised qualification.

Are classes recorded?

Where the academy has permission to record a class, the recording may be shared with your batch for revision. Recordings do not replace live classes, and attendance counts towards the certificate.

How do I pay?

The fee is a one-time payment in Indian rupees through Razorpay once online enrolment opens; ZORK Academy never sees your card or UPI details. The fee shown is proposed and may change before enrolment opens. Refunds follow the refund and cancellation policy in force when you pay.
