About this course
Good editing is mostly invisible: the cut lands when it should, the audio is clear, the colour looks natural and the message gets across. This course teaches those fundamentals first and then shows where AI tools genuinely save time — transcription, captions, clean-up and repurposing — and where they still need a human eye.
Classes are live and hands-on. Each session works through real footage supplied for the course, and you finish each week with an edit of your own. Doubt-clearing time is built into every week. Recordings, where available, are for revision only; the course is designed to be followed live.
Why DaVinci Resolve? The free version is a professional editor used in real productions, runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and includes editing, colour, audio and motion graphics in one application. Some AI features are only in the paid Studio version; where that is the case we say so and show a free alternative. Adobe Premiere Pro equivalents are pointed out as they come up, so the skills transfer if your workplace uses it.
Using AI responsibly. We cover consent, copyright, disclosure of AI-generated or AI-altered content and the risks of deepfakes. AI tools are used to assist your editing, never to deceive viewers or impersonate real people.

Schedules and batches
Choose the schedule that fits your week. Both teach the same syllabus and the same 30 live hours; only the number of weeks differs.
| Schedule | Days | Live hours a week | Classes | Length before holidays |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Weekday Intensive | Mon–Fri, 1 h each | 5 | 30 | about 6 weeks |
| Weekend Evening | Sat & Sun evenings, 2 h each | 4 | 15 | about 8 weeks |
- Weekday Intensive classes are one hour, so each 2 h syllabus session is taught across consecutive weekday classes.
- Weekend Evening classes run on Saturday and Sunday evenings; the exact time and time zone are set before a batch is confirmed.
- Public holidays are not class days unless the instructor confirms a class. Holidays, instructor leave and cancelled classes move the end date later so no live hours are lost.
- Plan about 4 hours a week of exercises, assignments and project work outside class.
- Group, Duo and One-to-One courses all follow one of these two schedules.
Final project
Edit and repurpose a short video for a real-world brief. Choose one of the supplied briefs (a small-business explainer, a course trailer or a short interview) or bring your own footage that you have the rights and consent to use. You deliver:
- A 2–4 minute horizontal edit for YouTube with balanced audio, corrected colour, titles and reviewed captions
- Two vertical cut-downs of 30–60 seconds each for Instagram Reels, and one square or horizontal version for LinkedIn
- An organised project archive (media, timelines and exports named consistently)
- A one-page edit note: the story structure you chose, export settings for each platform, which AI tools you used and how you checked their output, and how AI use is disclosed
- A portfolio page or reel entry presenting the work with an honest description of your role
Reviewed live in the final week.

Are classes recorded?
Where the academy has permission to record a class, the recording may be shared with your batch for revision. Recordings do not replace live classes, and attendance counts towards the certificate.
